I was born in Miraflores, Peru, South America. When I moved to the USA, I realized learning a second language was necessary. After several years of taking ESL classes, graduating from college, and achieving a graduate degree in Religion, I decided to embark on an adventure; I signed up for as many credit hours from the English Department as I could to improve my English. By doing so, I hoped I would achieve two goals. The first was to master English. The second was someday to be able to minimize my accent whenever I would speak English. On the way to reaching my goals, I realized that English was quite complicated and I might never get rid of my accent. However, I found enjoyment in learning about languages and cultures and in knowing that having distinct pronunciation when speaking English is part of who I am. I later applied to the Master's of Arts program in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) for one main reason – that "maybe" by taking graduate-level classes, I would find the "secret" to mastering this language. I am still searching.

I have been married to a North American monolingual for quite some time. When we began to share a home, I found it was a total immersion for me! I had no choice but to communicate with him in English. We learned that we love to travel the world. We have toured across many different countries in Europe, Central America, and South America. Languages and cultures intrigue me!

My experience in teaching languages is in Spanish. My present job finds me teaching Spanish to students in grades 11 and 12. I am using the methods I learned in the TESOL program. So far, these have proved helpful in preparing my lesson plans, and I have been able to transfer comprehensible information to my students.
