The Imperative Mood

The Necklace

“The Imperative Mood” is a grammar lesson.  However, as students learn to cook and taste foods, a low-anxiety classroom environment will be created.  Krashen believes that students’ emotions, such as anxiety and self-doubt, interfere with the process of acquiring an L2.  Students in my class will learn about the usage of verbs in the imperative mood, which is one of three significant moods in English, in a low-anxiety environment.

The lesson plan for “The Necklace” is outside of my comfort zone, but I need to familiarize myself with this subject to assist my students.  I do believe that teaching students English through learning literature is strengthening their communication skills.  As I mention in this lesson plan, my teaching methods reflect content-based instruction (CBI), an approach to language education developed by Briton, Snow, & Wesche (1989).  Teaching L2 learners using the CBI approach will keep them motivated and interested while learning.
